Rhondda Makers

I love getting together with fellow makers over a cup of tea, and hopefully, some biscuits. Or cake, preferably chocolate. With cream.

I’m putting together links to other Rhondda makers here, in the hope that we can all increase our visibility and get our beautiful products out there in the world a bit more. If you’d like to be part of the list, just message me and we’ll set up reciprocal links. Or you can “like” Spiny Sharkly Things on our Facebook page 🙂

Lemon Blues – is a shop with a difference. It is the workshop of knitwear designer Melissa Warren and an outlet for other designer/makers from Wales. Regular exhibitions offer an ever changing scene when you visit and you are sure to find that special something as many pieces are one-off but not always highly priced. You can watch us at work or just browse. Made in Wales and helping to sustain work here – no cheap imports! Opening times are Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays from 9-1 and 2-5. LEMON BLUES, 73 Llewellyn St, PENTRE, Rhondda Cynon Taff, CF41 7BS. O1443 422266

Fashioned in Glass – Gaynor Lewis makes individually designed, hand made glass jewellery – created from dichroic glass, kiln-fired in her workshop at home in Wales. The end result – unique and stunning pieces of glass jewellery. We’re planning on working together to combine my silver with Gaynor’s beautiful glass. Watch this space!

Silver Stitches – Helen Silvers – Textile Artist & Knitter. Helen makes all sorts of machine embroidered items from books covers to hand made books, from hand bags to waistcoats and from hand knitted tea cosies to hand knitted shawls. All are one of a kind made from new and recycled fabrics. She also designs her own fabrics by hand dyeing and embroidering. Beautiful stuff!
